John S. Mulholland Family Foundation thanks Giant Food for their recent donation of $1,000 in Giant Food Gift Cards.
These cards will be used to purchase our Signature Items – Fresh Produce, Milk and Eggs, Meat and Poultry. These Signature Items are an important part of what we do, and sets us apart from other food pantries in the City. Of course, the Foundation provides the basic non-perishable foods in cans and boxes, such as vegetables, soup, fruit, tuna and chicken, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, beans and rice, and more.
But JSM believes that, in order to provide a nutritional, balanced meal these Signature Items are vital. We are so serious about this, that a physician serves on our Board of Directors. He tells us that poor diet leads to a host of medical issues – Childhood obesity and Diabetes, later heart disease to include stroke.
Of course, all this costs money. We spend tens of thousands of dollars at Giant Food each year. That is why we are so grateful that they recognize us as a loyal and valuable customer by supporting our mission with this Gift Card donation each year.
