John S. Mulholland Family Foundation’s 9th Annual Summer in the City campaign is well underway, with just under 15,000 cans and packages of non-perishable food collected in June.

We would like to thank the churches that participated in June:

  • St. Peter’s Olney (Fr. Tom Kalita, Anne Marie Stone)
  • Blessed Sacrament NW (Fr. Bill Foley, Jessica Walsh)
  • St. Paul Damascus (Msgr. Ed Filardi, Kimberly Morrison)
  • St. Mary Barnesville (Fr. Kevin Patrick O’Reilly)
  • Our Lady of Victory NW (Fr. Andy Gonzalo)

Our schedule for July will take us to the following churches on the last weekend of the month:

  • St. Mary Rockville
  • Annunciation NW
  • St. Jerome Hyattsville
  • St. Thomas Apostle Woodley Park NW

In August, we will be at the following churches on the last weekend of the month:

  • Holy Cross Garrett Park
  • St. Bernadette Silver Spring
  • Our Lady of Mercy Potomac
  • Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle NW

We are still scheduling our September churches, but if you attend or live nearby one of the parishes listed above, please be a saint and drop off some canned good to help our food insecure neighbors in Washington, DC.

The items most needed are:

  • Cheerios Cereal
  • Canned tuna or chicken
  • Canned vegetables (green beans, peas, corn)
  • Canned fruit, any kind
  • Canned soup, hearty varieties are the best
  • Peanut butter and jelly (plastic containers only)
  • Pasta (any kind) and pasta sauce (plastic or cans only)
  • Macaroni and cheese/Chef Boyardee/Ready to go meals

Please, no sweets, condiments, coffee or tea, etc. We have great need for the above items.
