Greg Gannon 5 Mulhollands

The 27th Annual Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive (ggcfd.org) was once again a great success, with more than 107,000 cans of food collected. That is well over a million cans over the years!

For the John S. Mulholland Family Foundation, it was a success as well, as the Foundation collected and distributed approximately 18,000 cans on Saturday, December 6th. The Mulholland Men pictured above (left to right: Matt, Bill, Jay, Brian and Patrick) delivered approximately 13,000 cans to our three inner city pantries. Additionally, we sent  a team of volunteers from our St. Thomas More Pantry to pick up “overflow” from Holy Trinity in Georgetown. That “overflow” was 5,000 cans!

But the work continues. Monday and Tuesday, the Foundation will be dispatched to bring in “late arrivals” – those that did not make it to the GEICO parking lot in time – from St. Mary’s Rockville and Blessed Sacrament Washington.

The end result is that our three pantries in the inner city will not only make it through the holidays, but have enough food to make it through much of the winter as well.

This is goodness in the true sense of the word and we want to thank our partners at Greg Gannon Canned Food Drive, especially Rick Gannon and Dave Ficca for embracing our mission of feeding the inner city poor. Their family helped our family do just that.
