The John S. Mulholland Family Foundation opened our 5th Food Pantry last month and our second in less than a year.
The Pantry is located at 14 M Street, Southeast, at the corner of South Capitol Street. It is walking distance to both the U.S. Capitol Building and Nationals Stadium and is located in the basement of St. Vincent de Paul Church. Initially, the Pantry will be open on the 4th Saturday of every month, from 10AM until Noon.
The need in this section of the city was obvious, as 51 families were served on the first day. The Interim Director, Patricia Peterson, stated, “We are thrilled to be serving this area of the city which was previously not included by any organization serving the poor, and delighted we were so well received by the parish.”
The addition of the JSM Pantry at St. Vincent de Paul brings the number of families served each month by the Foundation to just under 800.
