Hunger doesn’t take a vacation and neither do we, so we have kicked off the 5th Annual Summer in the City Food Drive, which runs Memorial Day to Labor Day.

The Foundation will be visiting churches in the region every weekend to collect canned goods and bring them to our Food Pantries in Southeast Washington. This effort involves scores of volunteers and thousands of donors — it is the only major Food Drive in Washington each summer.

We want to thank our participating churches — St. Peter’s Olney, Blessed Sacrament Washington, St, Nicholas Laurel, St. Bernadette Silver Spring, Holy Rosary Washington, St. Stephen Martyr Washington, St. Patrick Norbeck.

Also, St. Mary Barnesville, St. Mary Rockville, Epiphany Georgetown, Resurrection Burtonsville, St. Matthias Lanham, St. Matthew’s Cathedral, St. Jerome Hyattsville, Immaculate Conception Washington.

Additionally, Annunciation Washington, St. Augustine Washington, St. Francis Assisi Derwood, Our Lady of Mercy Potomac, Our Lady of Grace Silver Spring, St. Raphael Rockville, St. John Neumann Gaithersburg.

Finally, St. Bartholomew Bethesda, St. Paul Damascus, Holy Cross Garrett Park, St. Thomas Apostle Washington, St. Michael Archangel Silver Spring, St. Gabriel Washington, Holy Redeemer Kensington, St. Elizabeth Rockville, and St. John Vianney Prince Frederick.

You can see we cover a lot of geography over the summer, but the need is great. You can help, too, with a monetary donation at jsmff.org/donate.

As always, we are grateful for your support.
